What an incredible week of learning! We would like to send a special thank you to our UVM student teachers for putting on an amazing puppet show on animal habitats. Students then made miniature animal habitats in the woods! We learned that habits require 4 things, a food source, water, protection and a place to raise young. In addition to our Through the Woods Thursday, here are other highlights from our week.
This week we:
Started our new handwriting program
Continued to work on segmenting and blending CVC words
Added details to our personal narrative stories
Introduced our poetry and song binder ( a favorite)
Learned new sight words - the, and, came, out, up, all (paper cards of these came home)
Wrapped up our first math unit on addition and subtraction strategies
Wrapped up our life cycle of the monarch butterfly unit
Next week we will:
Work on short vowel sounds and how to isolate them
Add more sight words
Learn how to focus on a small moment in writing
Add new reading strategies for solving unfamiliar words
Start our geometry unit
Work on how to be a good partner and a good sport
