First Grade Scientists

On the second day of school our first graders jumped right into our new science unit on organisms! We are studying the life cycle of the monarch butterfly!

Today we learned that the monarch butterfly will lay an egg only on milkweed! We also learned that monarch caterpillars  only eat milkweed! The children colored a  monarch caterpillar for families to see what they look like. We also walked to the CHMS garden to gather milkweed for the caterpillars in our room!

First Day Fun

What an amazing first day!! We read the book First Day Jitters! In the story someone is a little nervous about starting school! Ask your child to tell you who had the jitters in the story!! Then we drew pictures of things that give us the jitters.
