Welcome Back Math!!! Plus or Minus 10

On our first day back from our spring break the first graders were ready to jump right in where we left off.  Students played a game today working on adding or subtracting 10 on and off the decade.  Students used base 10 blocks or the 100's chart to solve the problems.

Do You Like Green Eggs and Ham?

Our first graders have been learning and about Dr. Seuss and his amazing stories.  Today we read Green Eggs and Ham.  Our class worked to create our own silly version of the classic Dr. Seuss tale.  Here are a few examples from the book.  Stop by when you have a minute to read the entire classroom book!

Flynn Workshop Tomorrow at RES

Tomorrow the Flynn Theater Educators are coming to visit the RES First Graders!
We will learn all about the production, Seussical the Musical.  Here is a little information about the show. Our workshop will take place in the Enrichment room from 8:55-9:45.

Seussical The Musical:

Oh, the thinks you can think! Dr. Seuss’s best-loved stories collide in this rollicking musical adventure, adapted for young audiences from the award-winning Broadway musical. Steadfast Horton the Elephant, insecure but mighty Gertrude McFuzz, and the mischievous Cat in the Hat take center stage in this large-scale “egg-stravaganza” that celebrates the bonds of friendship, the richness of individual differences, the importance of tolerance, and the incredible power of open minds to think, wonder, and dream.
