Our first graders brought something very special home today!! They each have a bean plant they started from seed! The plants look great! We have been learning all about plants. Learners really got into the parts of a plant, we even turned one of our classmates into a plant! Then we colored our own plant part craft. Next week we will continue to learn about the needs of a plant and the life cycle!

Unit 9 in our math program has inspired our young architects to create some amazing designs. Today learners rotated through several 3D shape design and critical thinking centers. Students used texts to generate ideas and created their own buildings out of geoblocks and Legos. Next, they tried building and sketching. Learners created castles and skyscrapers and then drew the 3D structures on paper. Our final station was the Jenga center. Students moved and shifted blocks to see how high they could build the Jenga structure. The creativity was off the charts!
