Learning highlights from the week:
Math- First graders have been reviewing skills from before vacation. On Monday they will be starting a new unit on measurement and fractions. Second graders continue their work on fluently adding and subtracting within 100 using place value with a variety of strategies. We have been talking about what strategies work best and what strategies are most efficient.
Reading- We are starting a new unit on character development and story elements! We will focus on both physical traits as well as emotional and personality traits. We will be continuing our work on building our phonetic skills as well as new book clubs.
Writing- We have finished our research books and project and are moving on to opinion writing! Students will learn how to state their opinion and add supporting reasons to help persuade their reader!
