Math- The first graders are working on missing addend problems. Here is a great game you can play at home to work on this skill. Second graders will be finishing up their math unit next week. The big ideas covered in the next unit are to fluently add & subtract within 100 using place value, combinations of 100 and decomposing using place value.
Students will also be working using the powers of 10 to add and subtract.
Reading- The work on nonfiction will continue through February break. We are reading a variety of nonfiction titles and learning about our world, animals, dinosaurs, etc.
Writing- Students are continuing to work on their animal research books. I am so impressed with the time and effort everyone has put into their writing.
Mindfulness- Our theme for the month of February is Kindness.
