As the weather gets snowier, please make sure your learner has outdoor clothing. Please label all of your child’s winter clothing, including each glove/mitten. If it doesn’t fit in a backpack, you can send it in a reusable grocery bag. I do have some available in our classroom if they need one. This makes packing easy for your student. It is also important that students learn to put their gear on by themselves. I am able to help with small things, but there are too many kiddos for me to be able to help at every stage of dressing for the outdoors. If you are missing any item and need something, I have extras in the classroom!
Here are the highlights from our week:
This week we:
Learned about using a compass rose on a map
Traveled to Germany
Made shoes for St. Nicholas
Worked on writing our how to books
Added the glued sounds an, am and all
Worked on strategies to add 3 numbers
Worked on reading fluency (please keep practicing at home)
Next week we will:
Start solving true/false math equations
Learn to select the easiest strategy to add multiple numbers
Add finishing touches to our how to books
Learn about suffix s and the sounds in can make /s/ and /z/
Travel to Sweden and Norway
Continue working to meet our reading goal!
Learn to use a map key
We have read 42 hours so far! Only 18 to go to meet our goal! Please keep the reading sheets coming in! Have your learner color in one pumpkin or penguin (newest sheet to print if you need it) for every 15 minutes they practice reading. It is the best way for your learner to become a better reader!
