Reading Workshop Happenings
Ever wonder what happens during our reading workshop in first grade? It's more than just reading the words, we are really thinking! This week we are digging into our nonfiction texts and learning what the author is trying to teach us. Our learning doesn't stop there! We are taking some of what we learn and teaching it to others! Some students are using Post-Its or journals to jot down keywords or important details, while others are creating teaching books or posters about their reading. No matter how students choose to share their ideas, everyone is sharing their learning with their classmates. Some of the books are pretty exciting! Take a look and see!

We Read 120 Hours! Check Out How We Celebrate!!!
Our class has read 120 hours! This is such an amazing accomplishment that we earned Fort Blanket Day! We used blankets and sheets to build forts with tables and chairs. Then our learners got to read, do math activities and play games in the forts. I am so proud of our growing readers! They are simply outstanding! A special thank you to Mr. White for coming in to congratulate our class.
