Robot Roundup!

First Graders are getting their hands on some exciting new tech tools on these last few days of school.   On Friday our learners got a chance to experiment with different kinds of robots and other cool tech tools.  Every First Grader got a chance to program and control several different types of robots.  We explored Cubelets, Ollie, Dash, Ozobots and Sphero.  Students built ramps and mazes and then navigated their robot through the path.  In addition we spent time coding and drawing with Osmo. Our Robot Roundup was filled with excitement.  A special thank you to Darcie Rankin for lending us some of her robots and making our day incredible.

Celebrating Expected Behavior with Our Favorite Book!

We lit all the lights! Today we celebrated expected behavior by dressing up as crayons from one of our favorite books, The Day the Crayons Quit  written by Drew Daywalt and Illustrated by Oliver Jeffers.
Mr. White came into our classroom dressed as a pack of crayons and did a little dancing.
Then we enjoyed the book with all of First Grade together.  Our crayon pack has become so close this year!

Sharing Our Data

Everyone knows First Graders have a lot of questions! Our Data Unit in Math gives learners a chance to ask their own survey question.  Students created a survey question, collected the data, and then made a representation of the data they collected to share with our class.  Each team had a chance to share their results with our class.  Our representations are hanging in the hallway.  If you get a chance, stop by and take a look!  The questions they came up with are fabulous!
