Valentine's Day and Other Adventures

 

This week we:

• Shared kindness with Valentine’s cards

• Learned about the winter olympics 

• Wrapped up our math unit on Measurement, Time and Fractions

• Finished our unit on glued sounds and suffix s

• Had a science lesson led by our UVM Interns

• Completed our 1:1 reading assessments

• Learned to find important information on our animals from texts

• Wrote more sections on our animal reports

After break we will:

• Start a new computation unit

• Add beginning blends to our phonics skills

• Finish our research on our animals

• Work on self regulation and how to focus our bodies

• Start a kindness project for our classroom

• Add more reading strategies to our toolkit

Celebrating Reading for 60 Hours and More!

Congratulations!  We read 60 Hours!!! Woo Hoo!!!

This week we:

• Added the suffix s to our ng and nk word families

• Wrote the first section of our research paper

• Worked on individual goals for reading

• Learned ¼ and ⅓ fractions

• Introduced time to the half hour

• Learned that animals have special traits that help them to survive in the wild

• Added new sight words- came, come, because

Next week we will:

• Write more sections of our research paper

• Wrap up our math unit on measurement and fractions

• Finish up our reading unit and have 1:1 reading assessments

• Review our phonics on digraphs and glued sounds 

• Learn the science behind some Olympic Sports

• Our UVM interns will teach a lesson

• Have our Valentine’s Celebration

 

100th Day Fun and Groundhog Day All In One!

This week our students :

• Selected an animal to research

• Learned new ways to calm our minds and bodies

• Searched for and collected -nk and -ng family words in our books (picture on our Blog)

• Started our fractions unit and worked on ½

• Celebrated the 100th day of school!!!!!

• Learned interesting facts about Groundhogs, also known as Whistle Pigs :)

• Used PebbleGo to research animals

Next week we will:

• Start writing our animal reports

• Learn more about plurals and suffixes

• Add more fractions ¼ and ⅓

• Make Valentine Card holders

• Work on our mental math with Mrs. Roberge
