Learning highlights from the week:

Math- The first graders are still continuing their focus on place value and its use in adding and subtracting within 20.   I am linking some fun games you can play at home to help.  All you need is a deck of cards (Face cards and 10’s removed) Partners to 10 are ( 1 and 9, 2 and 8, 3 and 7, etc).

Writing-  Students are working on their animal research books. This week we started the chapter on the body of their animal.  Everyone is so proud of their work. I can’t wait to share it all with you. We will be having families in to share our work before February vacation. I will have more details on this soon.

Mindfulness-  We are continuing our work on self-regulation. Students are practicing strategies to maintain focus and reduce impulsive behaviors. We are working on keeping things in our “think bubble” instead of blurting them out.
